Recently in November, SAP announced the latest version of S/4HANA, called SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management. The scope of this release goes beyond finance, covering supply chain, procurement, sales, manufacturing and more. This new release also changes the way S/4HANA is deployed, with a new SAP Activate methodology that allows for a live demo S/4HANA client to be used as a reference during the project blueprint phase.
S/4HANA Enterprise Management further simplifies the application layer of areas outside of finance. In addition, notable changes include standard activation of DIMP (Discrete Industries & Mill Products), which allows for up to 40 digits in the material master technical names, as well as many other enhancements too numerous to detail in this article.
Bokanyi Consulting, a Kellton Tech Company project members have already been in contact with SAP S/4HANA product managers as we prepare to deploy this release in December. Our prior experience in successfully deploying the earlier release, S/4HANA finance, is a great foundation for ramping up with S/4HANA Enterprise Management.
Some additional facts about S/4HANA Enterprise Management:
- S/4HANA Enterprise Management is available for 25 industries, including the core industries served by Bokanyi Consulting, a Kellton tech Company.
- SAP also introduced a new Solution Explorer that provides more information by industries, lines of business, and also technology, located at https://solutionexplorer.sap.com/solexp/ui/
- If you are a current SAP ERP user, SAP has developed a tool, called the Business Scenario Recommendation, which provides a detailed analysis of your processes and identifies specific business benefits of a S/4HANA upgrade.
- SAP is currently offering a S/4HANA promotion, which is good until Dec 31, 2015. The promotion allows for existing SAP Business Suite customers who have a valid SAP HANA limited runtime license, or who procure the SAP HANA runtime license, to get the SAP S/4HANA foundation-promotion license at no additional cost. Rumors seem to indicate that there might be additional costs for licensing individual functional areas of S/4HANA, once this promotion ends, although no details have been released or shared at this time.
